The Moshavah tzevet (staff) is extremely eager for all of the chanichim (campers) to arrive in just a few days! During our first week here the tzevet participated in a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course, in which they learned about wilderness medicine and how to care for patients in the field. The training included CPR, epinephrine administration, wound cleaning, and splinting, among other important first aid skills. Each madrich (counselor) feels confident about leading tiyulim (trips) this summer after receiving their WFA certification.

Following WFA training, the tzevet embarked on a three-day tiyul (trip). On this tiyul, they went canoeing, biking, hiking, and rock climbing! The tiyul was led by former Moshavah madrich and sgan (assistant unit head), Scott Goode. The tzevet loved having Scott on the tiyul, especially because he was their Moshavah madrich when they were chanichim! This was a great bonding experience for the tzevet and they came back to camp refreshed with energy to build our Moshavah community. The following week was spent constructing beds, putting-up tents, and cleaning Mosh and Tzofim to make the “downstairs” beautiful for the chanichim when they arrive on the 18th!

Now that it is our third week at camp, we are happy that the rest of the OSRUI tzevet is here so that we can learn from each other while enjoying fun programming. I am amazed by the insightful and profound discussions that have been occurring during Staff Week and I am excited to see the tzevet in action once the chanichim arrive. We have spent a lot of time talking about ways to make this an incredible summer for the chanichim and we cannot wait to meet your children!
