zoe-hairAs many of us know, camp is a place where magic occurs.  This magic can be the sounds of children singing and cheering.  It can be the amazing friendships and connections that are made every single day.  This magic can also be created by members of our community coming together to do something wonderful.

This past Shabbat afternoon, an incredible mitzvah took place.  Over 30 of our chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff) donated at least 8 inches of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  Pantene is an organization that creates wigs from donated hair for those in need.  In front of the entire camp, these 30 young women and girls stood up and made a statement to our community that we always need to think about those who are in need of help.  Our chanichim and tzevet stood up and responded to their call for help, and donated their hair.

We are so incredibly proud of everyone who participated in the hair cutting this Shabbat.  They know that they made a difference in someone’s life, and we know that they will continue performing amazing mitzvot as they grow into thoughtful and wonderful Jewish adults.
