We are thrilled to inform you that OSRUI has once again been selected to participate in the Harold Grinspoon Foundation PJ Our Way at Camp 2016 Pilot, and your child will have the opportunity to participate in the program this summer.

What is PJ Our Way?

PJ Our Way is the newest chapter of PJ Library for kids ages 9-11. The pilot program launched in September 2014 in 10 communities and expanded to include nine summer camps (including OSRUI) in June 2015. Currently, there are 50 communities and 46 summer camps participating in the pilot. The pilot is funded by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) in partnership with Alliance partner funders.

PJ Our Way aims to build Jewish libraries for children ages 9-11 and expose them to Jewish themes and content. Each month, participants are invited to choose a book from a selection of four books and share their ideas with their peers at pjourway.org. “We believe these stories and their values help shape young people in their understanding of being Jewish, and it’s our hope that PJ Our Way will ultimately build a strong community of young Jewish people,” said Harold Grinspoon, Founder of PJ Library and PJ Our Way.

How does PJ Our Way work at Camp?

Combining the PJ Our Way program with the social and Jewish communities of camp provides the perfect environment for helping children connect with Jewish books. All campers ages 9-11 and their bunkmates will receive a PJ Our Way book as a gift while they are at camp this summer. We are planning a fun book club chug to connect our campers with the book(s) we chose. All eligible campers (those who are ages 9-11) will be invited to join the year-round PJ Our Way program after camp ends.

We are very excited to participate in the pilot and look forward to sharing more information (and pictures from the program) with you!
