by Sam Sterling, Rosh Eidah of KallahSam for Web

I am super excited to be the Kallah Rosh Eidah this summer! This is my 10th summer at camp and my 5th on staff. After this summer I will be returning to Washington D.C. for my senior year of college. I will graduate with a degree in International Studies and plan on taking the foreign service exam afterwards .

As a camper I was only in Kallah for one summer before moving onto other units, but as a staff member this will be my fourth year in Kallah.  During past summers I have been Rosh Limud (Jewish studies) and S’gan (assistant unit head) and am excited to use these past experiences to make Kallah the best I possibly can this summer.

This summer will be tons of fun for campers and staff alike. Between Facepaint Friday and 100 ft. Slip-n-Slides, this summer is going to be a blast! I am also excited for our chugim (hobbies) and Ivrit (Hebrew). For many campers Kallah is their first time at camp, which means that many of the activities we do are firsts for them. This is one of my favorite parts of camp. Getting to share these experiences with the chanichim (campers) helps create a positive connection between the madrichim (counselors) and their chanichim.

I’m so excited to meet all of the chanichim and can’t wait to share all the things I love about camp with them. Let the countdown to Kallah begin!
