And So It Begins!!

evan article

If you were to tell me thirteen years ago, during my first summer at OSRUI, that one day I would be a Rosh Eidah (Unit Head) of one of the seven incredible units on camp, I would not believe you for a minute.  Thirteen summers later, here I am gearing up to be the Rosh Eidah of Tiferet! Words can not describe how excited I am to start the summer and meet all the amazing campers that are anxiously waiting for the first day of camp. Things in Oconomowoc are getting right under away before opening day and every one is preparing. Over in Tiferet, we are wiping off the drawing tables, sweeping the stage, charging all the cameras, mopping the dance studio, and sorting all the guitars in order to get ready for all the fantastic artists to join us in just a few short weeks. As you wait for OSRUI summer 2016 to officially begin I wrote a little poem to distract you, enjoy!

This school year has moved so slow
When will it end? We thought we’ed never know.
But the time has come for the summer to start,
where we go to place for fun, Judaism and maybe some art.
Ah yes, its true, im talking about O S R U
I know you’re anxious, your patience running thin,
But do not worry camp will begin
We are sweeping the low road and prepping the tower
we are tying the tether balls and cleaning the showers
We are so close for OSRUI 2016 to start, its true.
But one thing is missing, ah yes it YOU!
So pack your bags and get ready for the summer to begin,
but for now read as this poem becomes FIN.

This is Evan’s 12th summer at camp and 5th summer on staff and he couldn’t be happier spending it in Tiferet. Evan just finished his junior year at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA (his hometown) where he is studying theater and recently returned from a semester abroad in Italy. Evan likes to spend his free time tap dancing, practicing his juggling, and hanging with his friends. When he is at camp, Evan loves to climb Etgar (the 5-story Alpine tower) participate in all-camp events (like the Star Spangled Mesibah (party) produced by Tiferet Aleph) and eating Shabbat dinner with some of his closest friends! Evan cannot wait for the summer to start, and see all the amazing campers when they return

Tiferet is one of the only residential camp programs in North America that combines study of the arts with a focus on Jewish themes and Jewish living. Campers also have the opportunity to experience all the fun of summer camp, including sports, swimming, climbing our 5-story Alpine Tower and high ropes course, and horseback riding!.
