My name is Roy Lash, I am an Etgar specialist at OSRUI this year and attached  to Chalutzim. I live in a town called Mevasseret-Zion near Jerusalem. This is my first summer at camp and it’s going great!

My day starts with waking up my 15 year old campers, a feat of its own. After services I start my day at our high rope course-Etgar, where I get face to face with campers from all over camp. At Etgar, the Hebrew word for challenge, campers confront their fears andget to experience success and self reward.

By dinner time, I rejoin my unit for services and evening programs. Being with my unit and cabin lets me form deep and meaningful connections with campers.

As a member of the Israeli michlahat, there is another side to my position. While at camp, I feel like I have a message to carry. Campers are anxious to know more and more about Israel, and I am there to fill the void.

I love OSRUI because it is a place in which Judaism and fun can come together.
