By Libby Fisher, Rosh Eidah of Kallah

The Kallah Gimmel chanichim (campers) have only been here at camp for a day, and already this session is shaping up to be amazing! Opening Day was so much fun! After eating aruchat twaharayim (lunch), we went to our tzrifim (cabins) to unpack and get to know one another. Then each one of the chanichim filled out a preference sheet for which chug (elective) they want to participate in for the first half of the session. We were then introduced to our limud (Jewish learning) topic for the next few weeks, in which we will be learning about Israel!  Cantor Arik Luck, one of our segel (faculty) members, wrote a theme song for Kallah Gimmel, title Tal Yerushalayim. Finally, everyone participated in get-to-know-you games for tochnit erev (evening program), such as a group game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and a rotation where each person wrote down their hopes and their fears and threw them into a campfire.

We have so much to look forward to this week! Thursday morning Tour La’Agam leaves for their 2-week bike ride, and we have all-camp t’fillot (services) and a farewell program that morning. Then on Friday we have our first Shabbat together this session, and Saturday night we are doing a combined program with Gesher, yet another eidah (unit) at camp for older chanichim. Each Kallah tzrif (cabin) will be paired with a Gesher tzrif and they will get to know each other and play games together. They will meet again throughout the session as well.

There are so many fun events happening just in the first week, and we can’t wait to get started!
