by Tessa Robinson, Rosh Eidah of Kibbutz HaTzofim

I can’t believe Tzofim Gimmel has started already! The summer so far has flown by and now a great four-week session is upon us. The staff had been preparing and waiting for Gimmel to start with such excitement and anticipation!

The session is off to a great start! We gathered as an eidah (unit) on Opening Day to find out who was in each ohel (tent) and who the madrichim (counselors) are. Everyone had a great lunch of hot dogs, chips, and lemonade with their ohel and then we finally went downstairs to begin our time in the ‘Butz. After moving in and eating dinner, we had a great time fighting off the heat with a good-natured water fight.

Wednesday we had a lot of fun staying indoors as we faced a hot, hot day in Oconomowoc. We played foosball, floor hockey, and ping-pong, and have gone swimming and enjoyed free time in the water! We are all looking forward to the next coming days, including more swimming and spending time in air conditioning, as well as Friday when we will welcome the Shabbat as a kehilah (community) and have a great time with all of camp at dinner and Shabbat Shira. With all of the fun, excitement, and ruach (spirit) in Tzofim, the next week will definitely be another amazing week at Olin-Sang-Ruby!
