by Itai Hacham, Chalutzim Rosh Eidah

Without even noticing, 7 weeks have gone by.. and I have to say that our wonderful kehillah (community), which includes both madrichim and chanichim, cannot believe that our time here in camp is almost over. Looking back, we can see what a great summer it was.

Seven weeks ago (which seems like it was just yesterday) we had the pleasure of meeting your kids, our chanichim, for the first time. Since here in Chalutzim we speak Rak Ivrit! (only Hebrew), it took some time for chanichim and madrichim to understand each other. But we could see improvement right away!

As the summer progressed, we shared great moments: Hebrew classes, fun and educational programs, t’fillot, Shabbat together in camp, Yom Avodah, Tiyul Canoe, Yom Tzava, Yom Horim, the Israel Program and many more activities.

During the last two weeks of the session, the chanichim took on more and more responsibility in the activities in Chalutzim and in camp: some of them got to songlead during t’fillot and Kabbalat Shabbat, some got to make announcements in Rak Ivrit and in general we were proud and thrilled to see the oldest chanichim in camp slowly growing and becoming future staff!

All I can say is, like I said during Yom Horim, thank you for sending your children to us so we can have them as our chanichim. We are so happy that we got to know them and even more proud of how much they improved in Hebrew. Just wait and see for yourselves on Sunday!
