by Hila Levin, Chalutzim Rosh Eidah (Unit Head)

What a busy week we had in Chalutzim! We are all having a wonderful time enjoying all that camp has to offer. It has been pretty warm around here, so we have been spending lots of time in the water swimming in the pool and lake, and engaging in water sports. Our photography chug reports that they all took pictures, and developed them on their own in the dark room this week too!

We had our first erev tzrif (cabin night), which is an activity that our chanichim look forward to every week. It’s a great opportunity to spend an evening of fun as a cabin and sometimes even speak in English! Some of us spent the evening learning magic tricks with Jerry, some spent a fun evening at Susan’s house, some of us played Capture the Flag, some did arts and crafts, and some of us spent the evening having fun with team building activities.

This past week we also had our Yom Avodah, which was a huge success! This was a great opportunity for us to become closer as an eidah (unit) and take care of our living space. We continued a Chalutzim tradition of adding our own bricks to our path to the beit t’filah, painted, and each contributed to an all unit tallit that we are making to enjoy for years to come. We ended the day with our own cookout and some much needed pool time and m’nucha.

We have also been working very hard on our Ivrit and we are all improving so much! To kick it up a notch, we are kicking off a unit competition between the tzrifim to see who can speak the most Hebrew during the summer. Keep up with us: Pa’amon= bell, Ratoov= wet, Yavesh= dry, Labrioot=bless you, z’man= time.

We are looking forward to another wonderful week ahead!
