Camp may be ending today for some of our campers that have been with us for the last two or four weeks but the excitement for the Gesher campers arriving Tuesday is soaring. Throughout the last couple of weeks the madrichim and I have been hard at work preparing for Gesher. The field trips are scheduled, carnival supplies have been ordered, and our daily routine has been set. Over the next few days the madrichim will have a chance to learn about each of our campers arriving and preparing the living spaces for a great summer.

Our segel (faculty) for the first two weeks of Gesher will be arriving on Monday. Working with us will be Rabbi Debbie Helbraun from Temple Jeremiah in Northfield, IL and Rabbi Lisa Bellows from Cong. Beth Am in Buffalo Grove, IL. They, along with the rest of the segel joining us during the summer, have planned fabulous limudim (study) programs on leadership in Kituvim (Writings) for our Gesher campers to partake in. We are excited to see what they will learn!

This summer each Gesher camper will get to participate in two chugim (electives) every day including art, drama, music, dance, photography, yoga, and much more. We just can’t wait to get started. Parents who have any questions throughout the session can feel free to email me at osrui.gesher@gmail.com or call the camp office. We can’t wait to meet our Gesher campers on Tuesday!

Annie Azriel is the Rosh Eidah (Unit Head) of Gesher. This is her thirteenth year at OSRUI and second summer as Gesher Rosh Eidah. She is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
