By Micah Brandhandler, Rosh Eidah of Chalutzim

It has been a wonderful week in Chalutzim!  We started our week by participating in our Yom Avodah in which we built and painted benches for our m’durah, painted signs to put around Chalutzim, planted a garden, and had a lot of fun listening to Israeli music.  We split off into 2 groups and while one group was working on all of those great projects, the second group was learning all about Shvil Yisrael. Shvil Yisrael is the Israel trail which stretches all the way from the north of Israel to the south.  The kids stopped at different stations and learned about the things to do while hiking the Shvil (which takes about 3 months). Later in the week we had our first Maccabiah Games!  The Chalutzim kids always are wonderful and create lots of cheers and have so much ruach (spirit) for their team.  During the next session the Chalutzim kids will be helping to lead the different teams and learn how to be good leaders. The white team won the Maccabiah Games, but who knows what will happen in the next games! Yom Horim (Chalutzim Parent’s Day) is just two weeks away and we are anxiously awaiting our Chalutzim parents to RSVP.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us up here at camp.  We have a great program planned and we can’t wait show you what the kids have learned and how they have grown!
