Kallah- Sara Splansky10984566_10203319396385621_4762396174843050967_n

Hi! My name is Sara Splansky. I am so excited to be the S’ganit of Kallah this summer! I am 20 years old, and I am from Buffalo Grove, Illinois. I previously attended Bradley University. This will be my 13th summer at OSRUI, and my 4th on staff.

I love being a Kallah madricha (counselor) because like many of our chanichim (campers), Kallah was the very first unit I did, and it made me fall in love with camp. I am so looking forward to swimming in the brecha (pool), climbing etgar (climbing tower), and celebrating Shabbat. One of the best parts about camp is all the lifelong friends you make, so I can’t wait for all the chanchim to get here and meet one another! This summer is going to be the best one yet!

Gesher- Abby Miller11813343_10203314263976843_8275331108812832036_n

Hi I’m Abby Miller and I’m SO excited to be spending the whole summer in Gesher! This is my 8th summer at OSRUI and my 3rd in staff. I am from St. Louis, Missouri, but I spend my school year in Nashville, TN as a student at Vanderbilt University studying history, and hopefully pursuing curatorial work. I am involved in many activities on campus including fundraising for the American Cancer Society, and acting as a leader at Vanderbilt Hillel.

I am so excited to be s’ganit of Gesher this summer. Last year, I experienced just how amazing of a unit Gesher is. I am looking forward to creating a strong kehila (community) in the horseshoe. I’m especially looking forward to our big event in Gesher Gimmel, the carnival. This is a big year for Gesher because for the first time we will be around the whole summer! I can’t wait to be part of this monumental year for such a special unit.

Tzofim-Dylan Singer10264911_10203084430339247_3327057995173318316_n

My name is Dylan Singer and I am so excited to be the S’gan of Tzofim this summer!  Next year, I am going to be a senior at the University of Minnesota where I study Business and Marketing Education, Jewish Studies and Hebrew.  Although I love the University of Minnesota, I studied last semester at Hebrew University in Jerusalem on the Nachshon Project.  This will be my 12th summer at camp and 5th summer on staff.
I am so excited to be in Tzofim again! Every summer, I look forward to so much, and this summer is no different. I am excited for all camp Shabbats, climbing Etgar, and going in the lake and pool!  I love so much about Tzofim, but some of my favorite parts are cooking and eating homemade food, working in the refet, and living in tents!  I cannot wait for all of the campers to get here so the summer can officially begin!

Tiferet-Emily Greenberg 943944_10208667292666679_2129720688659130481_n

My name is Emily Greenberg! I’m senior at Miami University in Oxford, OH, where I major in speech pathology.  I just got back from a semester abroad in Jerusalem.  In my free time, my favorite things to do were taking walks around Machaneh Yehuda (the shuk/market) with friends or going on field trips around the country to see the sites we talked about in my Archaeology class.

After coming back from being abroad, I couldn’t be more excited to return for my tenth, consecutive summer at OSRUI!  This is my fourth summer working with Tiferet. I love it because I love watching our campers learning and growing through their art.  I can’t wait for chugim, shabbat shira, and Mesibah (the all-camp talent show we put on)!

Mosh- Gabi Mintz11880483_10153511127354099_9121716161788845498_n

My name is Gabi Mintz and I am the s’ganit of Mosh this summer!  I am going into my senior year at Vassar College this fall where I study Neuroscience and Hispanic Studies.  I spent this last semester studying abroad in Madrid, Spain; where I hope to return for a year post-graduation.  I spend my free time at school participating in a devised theatre ensemble called Britomartis. When I’m at home I love to meet up with friends from my high school theatre troupe, hike in our local nature preserve, and watch Say Yes to the Dress with my mom.
I am ecstatic when it comes to thinking about the summer ahead!  After being with mosh staff for only one week, it is evident that this summer is going to be amazing! Mosh staff is full of lovely, boisterous, energized counselors who love the teva (nature) and love to spend time together.  On staff trip we bonded a lot and I can only imagine how much more we will bond by the end of the summer!  I am especially excited for the trips to come where we can split up and show our campers all of the awesome things that the teva has to offer!

Chaultzim- Ethan Ehrlich 69031_755562917806270_62625010_n

Hey there! My name Is Ethan Ehrlich and I am very excited to be the S’gan of Chalutzim this summer. I am 20 years old and just finished up my sophomore year at the one and only University of Wisconsin-Madison where I study Computer Engineering. I live and grew up in Deerfield, a northern suburb of Chicago. This summer will be my 12th summer at camp, 4th year on staff, and 3rd year in Chalutzim.

Growing up at camp, I had a lot of fun in every unit that I got to chance to be in, but my heart will forever be in Chalutzim. Any proud OSRUI alum can tell you countless stories of the best summer they ever had in Chalutzim.  To get a chance to help campers have that same truly remarkable experience is what makes me put on my camp swag every morning. It’s also really cool to see how connected American 15-year-olds  can get to Israel through learning Hebrew through everyday discussion, the history and religious significance of Israel with the help of the great faculty in Chalutzim, and about the culture and people of Israel just by hanging out with their really cool Israeli counselors. Just like every year of Chalutzim, Chalutzim ’16 will be a really awesome time!
