When you’re at camp for three full weeks like the Kallah Gimmel campers are, even our favorite activities like tochnit boker (morning program), sports, and chug can get a little monotonous. That’s why Kallah loves to shake up our routine and include special “Yom Days” throughout our session. Today was Yom Red, Wet, and Blue, and will definitely remain one of our favorite memories of the session.

Our Yom Day started with the alarm clocks, as everyone dressed in America’s colors to show some patriotism.  After a regular fun-filled morning, campers returned from their regular swimming time at the lake and pool and were told not to change out of their swimsuits because of a pool party! However, the announcement was cut short by a water-balloon ambush by the counselors. Cue an all-unit water fight!

After the hose was sprayed, buckets of water were thrown, and water balloons were pelted, we all grabbed our stuff and returned to the pool for some more aquatic fun and a picnic lunch! We raced on water slides, climbed the alligator, and played some super-intense games of Nuke Em’

After showers and sports, we showed some American pride with a nish nush of popsicles and an all-American song session.

Even though the Yom Red, Wet, and Blue festivities are coming to a close, our day is far from over: tonight Kallah will be surprised with our first erev tzrif (cabin night)! Shhhh…don’t tell the campers!
