by Raya Seidman, Tzofim Rosh Eidah

This past week in Tzofim, we have emphasized the Jewish values of welcoming our neighbor and building our community. We created cheers and handshakes throughout our whole eidah (unit) to welcome others around camp, as well as for ourselves in Tzofim. We have been working together to better our community by leading t’fillot (services), helping prep meals in the kitchen, and even working in the gan (garden). In fact, this week we got to welcome some very special members of our community – the animals in our refet (farm)! We can’t wait to begin taking care of them!

The unpredictable weather has not stopped us from enjoying the pool and lake activities,  sports time or chugim (electives), and it certainly has not stopped us from playing on Tzofim Hill, where we are most happy! We loved celebrating the first Shabbat of the summer with all of camp at dinner and Shabbat Shira (song session), and we can’t wait to continue our fun and learning throughout the rest of the session!

Raya Seidman is in her 13th summer at camp, and is beyond excited to be serving as Tzofim Rosh Eidah! In May, she graduated from Indiana University, where she studied Youth Development and Jewish Studies.
