My name is Einat Cohen Nisan Glen and I am director of the Mercaz Ivrit (Hebrew Center). I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Hebrew Literature and Administration Education from Tel Aviv University, and a Master’s Degree in Administration Education from Loyola University in Chicago. I have been teaching for 18 years in both in Israel and the United States.

The Mercaz Ivrit staff and I have created a program that encourages each camper to engage in and feel a sense of accomplishment with basic Modern Hebrew. We invite everyone to come and enjoy fun opportunities and activities during the summer that help in enriching the camper’s learning and knowledge of the language.

We have created a lexicon of frequently used words that are common for all campers and we build our lessons at camp based on the limudim (educational program) of each unit. For example, Moshavah Aleph learned about nature, weather and geography, all in Hebrew, so they could use it while in camp and while they were on their trips.

Everyone at OSRUI uses Hebrew on daily basis in our life at camp. Both the madrichim (counselors) and chanichim (campers) use the language with every activity that they are doing, and they are rewarded for using the most Hebrew in Camp!
