by Daniel Shore, Kallah Rosh Eidah

Kallah Aleph had an awesome opening day as the sun illuminated our chanichim (campers) playing together and getting to know each other before we even ate lunch.

We’ve wasted no time starting up our tochnit hayom (daily schedule). We’ve started cruising through so many of the activities and opportunites we can do at camp: from waterskiing to climbing the tower to horseback riding to sports. Today we even broke into our Hebrew groups and began introducing ourselves using Hebrew phrases.

Adding to all the introductions, Anne Stein (of Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard, IL) and Rabbi Lisa Greene (of North Shore Congregation Israel in Highland Park, IL) let us meet a couple of their close friends — Israeli-anna and Jones (relatives of Indiana Jones). They’ve begun to teach us about archaelogy and what we can learn from digging for and finding artifacts.  Later this week WE are actually going to start digging at our OWN ARCHAELOGICAL SITES!!!

I can’t wait to keep you posted on what we’re doing in Kallah.  Rain or shine, we’re having a great time 🙂
