Moshavah really started off with a bang this week! On our first night of camp, Rabbi Max Weiss (Oak Park Temple, Oak Park IL) and Rabbi Amy Memis-Foler (Temple Judea Mizpah, Skokie IL) introduced us to our

Moshavah campers learn to build a fire in preparation for their first tiyulim.

limud program, “Tending the Garden,” which focuses on the Jewish perspective of conserving the environment. We were treated to a campfire and an incredible display of fireworks atop Mosh Hill. We have enjoyed all types of camp activities, such as swimming, sports, and chugim. Some groups of chanichim (campers) have already climbed the tower at Etgar or gone waterskiing on Lac La Belle. Everyone will have the opportunity throughout the next 3 weeks to partake in these activities and many more.

We are looking forward to our first tiyul (trip) this coming week so that we can go hiking, biking, rock climbing, or canoeing. Several chanichim auditioned for Tiferet’s Star Spangled Mesibah and we are eagerly awaiting the results to find out who will be performing in the talent show. All of the madrichim (counselors) agree that this is a fantastic group of chanichim and we are excited to spend the next 3 weeks with each other enjoying teva (nature).
