It is 8 AM. I just walked through the Kallah dining hall. What I saw were the smiling happy faces of the campers. One group of girls stopped me and demonstrated how loudly they could sing Od Avinu Chai – a line from Am Yisrael. Let me tell you – it was loud!! What impressed me most on my little walk was seeing the staff – dressed in various unusual outfits, (it is Wacky Wednesday, after all), having a great time with their campers. They were doing all the right things – helping with breakfast, listening and answering questions, and making the start of this day exciting and fun.

I am proud to say that our staff – all over camp – is equally engaged. The staff of OSRUI come from various places, have astounding talents, patience, humor, a love of Judaism and they share their love of all this and camp with your children. They are the hard working teachers and role models that make OSRUI the wonderful place that it is. This of course, includes all of our amazing specialists.

Avodah Corps is vigorously cleaning up camp after their morning learning sessions. Camp looks great and they are a great team!

The rashei eidot, (unit heads) are overseeing their staff and campers wonderfully well.  Kol ha Kavod to: Daniel Shore – Kallah, Tessa Robinson – Tzofim, Emily Schwartz – Tiferet, Lizzy Scheinkopf – Moshavah, Itai Hacham – Chalutzim, Sue Nadel – Machon, Annie Azriel – Machon and Gesher, Erik Sirk and Micah Riskin – Avodah. You all make Jerry and me so proud and happy. I want to say thank you to Carly Valfer, our summer administrator, for making sure we all have what we need. Camp is off to a great start and I know all the good things will continue until our last campers leave for home in August.

Your campers are in good hands! Tomorrow morning, put on a wacky outfit, write a note to your camper, and sing OD AVINU CHAI, at the top of your lungs!!! You will feel so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
