by Ben Azriel, Etgar Specialist

Etgar (challenge) is OSRUI’s 55-foot climbing tower plus high ropes course, and I am one of the certified specialists who run our challenge program. This is my third summer on staff at OSRUI and my 8th overall. I am really enjoying my time with all the chanichim here and love to watch them get as high as they can on the tower.

Etgar offers many different activities for the chanichim. They can climb the traditional tower on three different courses (each with specific details), they can fly like a flying squirrel while being pulled up by their friends, they can jump off a 30-foot pole while trying to ring the bell in front of them, or they can participate in one of the four different high ropes challenges, such as the tightrope and the swinging vines. Each chanich has the chance to try up to three of the different activities while they enjoy their time at camp.

While many of the chanichim enjoy the higher challenges the tower has to offer, there is also a low ropes course that encourages teamwork and cooperation. Chanichim typically try the low ropes course at least once during their session, in addition to the high ropes.

Moms & dads, be sure to ask your chanichim about their experience at Etgar, because I am sure they will have a great story to tell!
