by Hila Levin, Chalutzim Rosh Eidah (Unit Head)
Its hard to believe that we have only been here for just 2 days with everything that we have done so far! Everyone is settled into their tzrifim, and having tons of fun.
Yesterday we had our tekes hasefer (giving of the book ceremony) in which each one of our chanichim received their Hebrew book with activities created just for Chalutzim. The madrichim (counselors) are very excited to be sharing their personal experiences of Israel and Hebrew as we use these materials in our classes.
Some other great things that we got to do yesterday was have some fun and cool down in the pool, and go to Chugim (electives). A new chug that we have this summer is Israeli/Jewish cooking chug! Yesterday our chanichim in that chug made shakshuka, a typical breakfast food we eat in Israel!
You can keep up with our Hebrew studies from home: yesterday’s milat hayom (word of the day) was doogma (example).
Hila Levin is the Rosh Eidah (Unit Head) of Chalutzim. Hila grew up in Har-Halutz, Israel, and has spent ten summers at OSRUI. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.
