SHABBAT PINCHAS 2012

Right now we are sitting here on what has become a cloudy day but sadly no real rain yet.  Oh, well…we can hope for a little….

Of course, today is Kallah Face Paint Friday and good news…we found Teddy Baby!!  Now if you have been reading the blogs over the week you know who we are talking about.  During the week we had a great Yom Tzofim – Kallah along with Avodah Corps.  They did great paintings representing themes about Teva (nature) and a wide variety of just fun activities.

This past week also saw our first Judaica Bowl of the summer with some of our campers representing great Jewish knowledge.  Kibbutz HaTzofim won the first round with Chalutzim taking the older kids round. It was an Upstairs/Downstairs Split!

Speaking of Chalutzim, they had a pool party with Avodah Corps the other day and Chalutzim has been working hard prepping for this Sunday’s Yom Horim (Parents Visiting Day).  They also had a really instructive time on Yom Tzavah learning about the many roles of the Israeli Army. As you can imagine, that was run by many of our Israeli staff members.

Tiferet had a great celebration of the various arts with a wonderful dinner.  They showed off their talent in portraying their session theme which was B’reishit…the book of Genesis.  They also had a canoe trip and studio in the park.  Thursday night Tiferet had Folk Night with logs and flashlights, since we aren’t lighting campfires because our grounds are so very dry.

Moshavah returned from their last trips – hiking, biking, rock climbing and canoeing – so very proud of all they accomplished over these past weeks.

All in all it has been a fabulous first four weeks of camp with an awful lot of smiling faces and happy campers.  Now we are getting ready to welcome Gesher, Kallah Gimmel, Tzofim Gimmel, Tiferet Bet and Moshavah Bet on Tuesday.  We also look forward to meeting the 19 kids who will be leaving for a 1,000-mile bike trip around Lake Michigan as part of Tour La’Agam.

We are now all looking forward to our 60 Years of Ruach Concert (info on the camp website if you want to join us) and a great second half of the summer.

Have a wonderful Shabbat and we look forward to the same!
