By Elana Gordon, Moshavah Rosh Eidah
Moshavah really started off with a bang this week! On our first night of camp, our wonderful segel (faculty) members introduced us to our limud (Jewish studies) program, “Tending the Garden,” which focuses on the Jewish perspective of conserving the environment. We were treated to a campfire and an incredible display of fireworks atop Mosh Hill.
We have enjoyed all types of camp activities, such as swimming, sports, and chugim (electives). We had a blast participating in sports night where we played an all unit game of “matzo ball (version of dodge ball)!” Some groups of chanichim (campers) have already climbed etgar (our 5-story Alpine tower), others have had the chance to go to the Mirkaz Ivrit (the Hebrew center). Everyone will have the opportunity throughout the next 3 weeks to partake in these activities and many more.
We are looking forward to our first tiyul (trip) this coming week where we will split up into groups to go hiking, biking, rock climbing, or canoeing. All of the trips are wonderful and as a staff we cannot wait to share our love for the tiyulim with this group of chanichim. We are also looking forward to celebrating Shabbat all together as a Moshavah community and getting some well deserved Shabbat minucha (rest time). All of the madrichim agree that this is a fantastic group of chanichim and we are excited to spend the next 3 weeks with each other enjoying teva (nature).
