Shalom from the breicha (pool)! My name is Alyssa and I’m one of the lifeguards this summer. When I’m not at the breicha you can find me and my ruach on the hill with Kibbutz HaTzofim!
It’s been an exciting week as our campers have started swim lessons and brushing up on their skills. We have so many great teaching tools such as kickboards and diving sticks so that the kids always have a different, fun activity to do. We also hosted our first Erev Ohel (tent night) where an ohel from Tzofim came to the breicha after dinner to get special time with just their counselors. They had a blast!
While most units have swim lessons in addition to free swim time, Chalutzim has the Etgar Mayim (Water Challenge). Each day they are presented with a task that the kids must do together such as relay races, retrieving pool toys, and Sharks and Minnows! It’s amazing to see the oldest kids on camp come together and show off not only their swimming abilities, but other important skills, such as leadership and teamwork.
We’re so thrilled with every camper’s progress and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings!
