By Micah Brandhandler, Chalutzim Rosh Eidah
Chalutzim had a wonderful first week at camp. Every day at breakfast we ask the chanichim “Who wants to speak only Hebrew today?” The first day no one raised their hands, but today almost half of Chalutzim is speaking rak ivrit kol hayom (only Hebrew all day). A big shout out to Kyle who was the first chanich to do Rak Ivrit. It’s great to see the chanichim learning so much Hebrew and trying to speak it all day. If the chanichim achieve their goal they receive a free slushie card from chanut (canteen)
This upcoming week we are really looking forward to a lot of awesome special events. On Wednesday we are having our Yom Avodah, in which our big project this year will be to paint one side of the bathroom. Several chanichim are hard at work designing and sketching out what Chalutzim 2013 will leave at camp for years to come. We are also planning to make a Chalutzim flag that we can hang from the top of our migdal (tower) so that whenever we look up each camper can see something that they are proud to have made.
We had a great first week and I can’t wait to see what the next seven have in store for us. Whatever it is I know that the chanichim wil have fun and there will be a whole lot of Rak Ivrit involved!!
