We are happy to introduce Max Antman, Rosh Eidah of Kallah and Gesher!  Max attends the University of Illinois, where he studies Political Science, English and Jewish Studies.  Get to know Max:

How many years have you been at camp?
This is my third summer at OSRUI and third as a member of the Kallah/Gesher tzevet (staff).

What is your favorite meal at camp?
I am a little embarrassed to say this, as I know that many Madrichim (counselors), Mumchim (specialists) and Chanichim (campers) will think I am crazy, but…I really like cold cuts. I know, it’s ridiculous, but the stomach wants what it wants.

What is your favorite all-camp event?
The Gesher Carnival, no competition! I obviously love all the events put on by the other Eidot (units) but the Carnival has always and will forever hold a very special place in my heart. Eating cotton candy, playing in the bouncy-house and watching the Gesher campers sing, act and dance on the Bitan is such an amazing time, and it is wonderful to see weeks of hard work come to fruition. As a side note, as a Rosh Eidah I will be getting dunked in the dunk tank this year, and I CAN’T WAIT!

What is your favorite Shabbat afternoon lunch?
I am a huge fan of leftover Shabbat lunch! My motto is: what is the only thing better than eating grilled cheese, macaroni and blintzes during the week? Eating them again on the weekend!

What is your favorite aquatic activity?
I’m a huge tubing fan. I have been doing it ever since I was little and I absolutely love it. At OSRUI, the lake front staff has a tradition of knocking counselors off the tube while the kids laugh at them from inside the boat, and I am happy to report that they have not succeeded with me to this day. Hopefully my track record will continue during this coming summer.

What is your favorite Yom Day (themed days)?
I love Yom Crayon, because I already own all of the same color clothing, and it is simply an excuse to let me wear all of it at the exact same time! My clothing comes in one of three colors: black, grey and blue. Yom Crayon allows me to wear all of my blue clothing, and believe me, that is a lot more than you would think.

What is your best camp memory?
My favorite camp memory was hanging the Gesher Carnival signs from years past inside Ulam Port. It was such a privilege to have been able to mark a building with a unit that means so much to me, and I look forward to hanging this year’s carnival sign next to all the rest.

Max is so excited to be able to work with both Kallah and Gesher this summer, and to help put on an awesome Carnival at the end of the summer!
