Our gates have just closed and camp is in session!  It was a fantastically smooth Opening Day, and the weather could not have been better.  We saw a ton of smiles, reuniting of old friends, excited faces, and lots of ruach (spirit).  Our madrichim (counselors) were ecstatic to greet the campers and begin the sumDSC_0063mer!

The cars started arriving mid-morning, and our madrichim were ready to welcome them to camp.  They immediately engaged in games, cheers, and conversation.  Kids were playing cards, playing catch, and chatting with old friends.

After everyone arrived, we all gathered on the Bitan for our all-camp welcome!  Jerry, Susan, and I greeted the entire camp.  Susan then took a “roll call,” asking each unit to identify themselves.  The thunderous roar from each eidah (unit) was so loud, I think it was heard in Michigan!

The eidot then broke off and met with their madrichim and split into tzrifim (cabins) and ohelim (tents).  They ate lunch together picnic-style outside, and then began their daily schedules.  Right now, everyone is unpacking and getting settled in.DSC_0066
