By Libby Fisher and Max Antman, Rashei Eidah of Kallah
We can’t believe it has only been a week since the Kallah Bet chanichim (campers) arrived at OSRUI! We have already participated in so many fun activities! On Thursday, Noam Katz was here to and performed an all-camp concert and everyone was so excited! Then the next morning, he participated in our limud (Jewish learning session) and he taught songs to the chanichim from Kallah. As if that weren’t enough, Friday was also our first Shabbat this session! We had t’fillot (services) as an eidah (unit), and then had dinner with all of camp, as well as Shabbat Shira. Both the chanichim and the madrichim (counselors) had an amazing night!
On Saturday, we had another awesome all-camp event – the Star-Spangled
Mesibah (a camp-wide talent show led by Tiferet, one of the other eidot. The theme this year was Frozen, and all of Kallah loved cheering on all three of our participants, Jacob, Ellie, and Sophie. After the show, we had Havdallah and then went to watch a beautiful fireworks display!
After all that we’ve done this week, we still have so much to be excited about! Tonight we are having our second Erev Tzrif (Cabin Night), and each tzrif has an amazing program planned, from a special session at etgar (our climbing tower), to a classic campfire with singing and s’mores. Later in the week, every chanich will be tie-dying, as well as helping to paint bricks that will surround our brand new medurah (fire pit). This session has been wonderful, and we know it will just keep getting better!
