By Micah Brandhandler, Rosh Eidah of Chalutzim
We have had a wonderful time in Chalutzim this week! We started off by attending the Star Spangled Mesibah (an all camp talent show) in which Julian, Seth, Simon, Ayelet, and Danie all performed. They were all so great and all of the chanichim (campers) loved seeing the fireworks at the end of the night. After Mesibah we started our final push at preparing for Festikayitz and Yom Horim!
Festikayitz was last night and I could not be more proud of all of our chanichim and madrichim (c0unselors). The sets were painted beautifully, the dances were fun and energetic, and the kids really got into the skits. Festikayitz is a celebration of Israel, and all of the acts were in Hebrew or related to Israel. I was so impressed with the chanichim’s dedication to this and how great all of the acts were. We had poems about Israel, Israeli songs, dances to Israeli music, and so much more. As the night went on I could see our all of our chanichim smile more and more. It was one of the best all camp programs that I have ever been to and I am proud to say that Chalutzim was a part of it.
We are preparing for Yom Horim now and we cannot wait to see and meet everyone that is coming up on Sunday for Chalutzim visiting day. All of the kids are very excited and they can’t wait to show off all that they have learned so far. Time has flown by and we only have 3 weeks left. This has been a great first half of the summer and I am very excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for us.
