By Libby Fisher, Rosh Eidah of Kallah

Kallah Gimmel is flying by, and with only a few days left of our session, it is amazing to look back at all we have done so far. Since you last heard from us, we have experienced so much!

Last Thursday, we went on a field trip to a dairy farm, where we learned how to milk cows, feed goats, hold chicks, and more! Everyone had a great time learning about how a farm runs, and we even got to go on a tractor ride! The next day, we shared our second Shabbat together, and the chanichim (campers) got some much needed rest. Saturday night we had an egg drop competition, in which each tzrif (cabin) worked together to build a container for an egg. Then we dropped each contraption off the top of Etgar (our 50-foot climbing tower) and the tzrifim with surviving eggs won!

On Sunday, we celebrated another one of our fun Yom Days (themed days) – Yom Lumberjack and Jill! Everyone wore flannel, and we did a lot of outdoor activities, including 2 meals outside, a slip-n-slide, and some special lumberjack activities like fire-building, log-rolling, and facepaint beards! That evening, we had another buddy program with Gesher, an older eidah (unit), and everyone had a great time!

Kallah had even more excitement in store for the rest of the week! On Monday, we watched the all-camp talent show run by Tzofim, Oconomostock! Four of our chanichim participated – Jake, Ethan, and Danny performed a circus act, and Zachsang an original song. Everyone at camp loved our acts! The next morning, Kallah Gimmel set off on yet another field trip. This time, we went on a hiking trip! We hiked about 2.5 miles through some beautiful teva (nature), followed by lunch and hanging out in the fresh air. Everyone really appreciated some aspects of the teva that we don’t get to see every day, like butterflies, the sound of the wind, and even the smell of pine trees.

As you can see, the past week has been absolutely filled with fun activities, and we have even more planned for the last few days of the session! While it is sad to see the session come to a close, it has been wonderful to watch each one of the chanichim grow over the past weeks, and I’m already getting excited to see them again next summer!
