By Becca Levy, Rosh Eidah of Tiferet

Marathon week is upon us in Tiferet! This week, the Tiferet chanichim (campers) devote much of their day in studio working to prepare for the final show and exhibition this coming Saturday! On Friday, Tiferet will present their work to other eidot (units) on camp for the first time, and on Saturday, families of the chanichim are visiting camp to celebrate the hard work of their children and siblings. The chanichim couldn’t be more excited to show their work to each other, camp, and their families this week!

I’ve asked a chanich from each studio to highlight a little bit of what they’ve been working on this session, and especially this week leading up to the final show!

Alli from Drama studio:
In Drama we have been putting our final show together in only a matter of days.  All of us collaborated to write the show. So, not only will we be performing, but we also took part in writing it.   Our show is very unique. It is called an immersive show. This means we will be performing our scenes about King David, all at the same time, in random places in the Bayit. The audience will be able to walk wherever and whenever they please. With our first dress rehearsal today, we can’t wait to perform for you!

Jon from Digital Arts studio:
To start this off, Digital Arts is amazing. Not saying that would just be a major injustice. The best part of Digital Arts is the multitude of activities you can do. If you want to focus on photography rather than film, and vice-versa you can. There’s even a peer of mine who is doing 3-D designing. With this much diversity in just the pilot year, Digital Arts can only improve and get better. Digital arts is amazing, and we are so excited for you to see what we have been doing.

Allison from Dance Studio:
Marathon week in Dance studio has been busy and super fun. We are working on three combinations; one lyrical, one jazz, and one partially self-choreographed dance based on self-chosen psalms. All three dances will be performed in the final show and we are super excited to show everyone what we’ve put so much work into!

Evan from Music Studio:
This week in music studio we have been preparing for the final show. We have composed pieces of music based off of a psalm or arranged an already existing song with the words of a psalm. This year’s group piece is an original song composed by Michal. We have also done a lot of preparations for the stage this week. In other news, once as we were practicing, Aviv brought a llama into the room, which we named Camel the Llama. It’s been a truly great week in music studio!

Noa L. from Visual Arts Studio:
So far, marathon week has been very busy. Visual Arts has the most studio time and everyone is in different places in their work. This morning, I finished my oil paintings after about a week or two of working on them. Yesterday, I carved a figure into a sheet of wood and painted it on to tissue paper. During studio this afternoon, I’m going to start working on an installation piece based on a psalm. Our work in Visual Arts has been very personal, but we are all excited to get to share it later in this week.

All of the chanichim have been working hard in studio all session and have really taken their art to the next level this week. They can’t wait to share their passions with everyone this weekend!
