By Aliza Ainis, Rosh Eidah of Tzofim

This past week has been very eventful starting off with a great tent night. We had erev ohel (tent night), in which each ohel had an activity together, as well as our 7th graders heading out for a hiking tiyul (trip)!  They camped out one night at a campsite, slept in tents, and had a great hike.  During this time, we had what we call Yom 5/6, in which the 5th and 6th graders had an amazing day at camp.  We had a pool party, slip n’ slide, cooked some great food, and played some great games!

On the hiking tiyul, 7th graders went on a hiking trip this past week. On the 7th grade trip, the campers had a wonderful hike where they got to lead each other and enjoy the teva (nature). They really loved bonding with other 7th graders and eating trip food that they helped prepare. As the sunset, there was a wonderful campfire that the 7th graders helped to build and maintain. The evening concluded with a song session and meditation T’fillah. They had a blast!

On Yom 5/6, the 5th and 6th graders had a special day planned for themselves. We started off our day with a fun Limud and then did marker capture the flag. We then made out own pizzas that we grilled over our fire pits to cook. They campers had such a fun time making their own personalized pizza’s! After lunch we had a great slip and slide and pool party. A great highlight of the day was the campers making blankets for a shelter. They cut the fleece pieces, tied the ends together, and decorated them.  This important mitzvah was a great teaching moment for our chanichim.  We then had homemade mac and cheese and played minute to win it. in the morning we rolled out the Torah and looked at the Parasha we were reading this week. We ended the day with paint twister and it was great!

I can’t believe that this summer is coming to a close. It has been 4 weeks since the campers have come and I couldn’t have asked for a better session. We learned so much about Israel and put on an amazing Oconomostock show. As the session comes to an end I am sure every camper will leave camp and remember the connections they have made with one another.
