By Susan Alexander, Associate Director

“Dear OSRUI,  Thank you very much for the scholarship that is helping me get to camp this summer.  I wouldn’t be able to go without your help.   I am so excited for camp!  I can’t wait to have fun and make new friends.  There aren’t many Jewish kids where I live so it is nice to make more Jewish friends.  Thank you so much, again.”

This is one of the many thank you notes we received last year.  We are all thrilled when we get these notes, and even more thrilled when we are able to tell families that we can make it possible for their children to come to OSRUI.  But we can’t do this alone.  We need help so that we can raise enough scholarship dollars to give to those families who are in need – and many Jewish families are in need.

OSRUI is a magical place.  It is a place where children live in a Jewish community and celebrate their Judaism by swimming, water skiing, horseback riding, creating art, singing, playing sports, having great fun and making friends that will last a lifetime.  It is a place where our children feel wonderful about themselves and what they are able to accomplish.  There is no greater experience than camp!

So, on this “Giving Tuesday,” put camp on your giving list.  Remember, the gift of camp requires no batteries, warranties or parental supervision – (we provide the supervision in the form of wonderful and committed counselors).

Our request is that you help children come to camp by donating to the OSRUI scholarship fund.  You will be giving a gift that brings our children outdoors and back to nature with the understanding that it is cool to be Jewish.

Remember OSRUI – you will be glad you did!
