By Becca Levy, Rosh Eidah of Tiferet

This week Tiferet had a lot of excitement! On Saturday, we ended our second week at camp and officially began our third week with the Tiferet tradition of “Saturday Night Folk Night” followed by Havdallah. All of the chanichim (campers) enjoyed singing along with our song leaders and making s’mores before welcoming in the new week!

Monday, we went on a surprise tiyul (trip) to the Milwaukee Discovery World. The chanichim spent time in their studios exploring the museum and relating different exhibits to each medium of art. Whether it was visual arts sketching, digital arts working with motion video, dance exploring how science connects to their bodies and movement, drama doing character study, or music experiencing the Les Paul exhibit, all the chanichim had a chance to personally explore the museum. After studio, we had a relaxing picnic lunch followed by some free time in the museum. During the free time, the chanichim were able to go back into exhibits that interested them or see brand new things that they didn’t explore during studio time. Then, just when the chanichim thought they were headed back to camp, we stopped to see the movie “Inside Out” which was a great surprise! It was a truly fantastic field trip!

This week is halfway done and we still have so much more to come! Tonight we have Judaica bowl where chanichim from each eidah (unit) compete in a Jewish trivia competition. Tiferet has put together a great team and the whole eidah is ready to cheer them on with all their ruach (spirit). Then sooner than we know it will be the 4th of July and Tiferet will host our Mesibah and the rest of camp will share their talents.

This has been an amazing first two weeks in Tiferet! Our kehila (community) has really started to come together and the chanichim have been busy with field trips, all camp events, and preparation for the Star Spangled Mesibah coming up this Saturday. I can’t wait for the next two weeks of Tiferet Aleph!
