By Yonah London, Rosh Eidah of Kallah
What a crazy first week it has been in Kallah Bet! We have had a great time getting into our routine at camp and making it to all of our activites, but most of all, this week has been about creating a Kehilah (community) at camp. Kallah has quickly established communities within their tzrifim (cabins), enjoyed cabin activities such as special tochniot erev (evening programs) and worked together on leading t’filot (servies).
Not only have all of the chanichim (campers) gotten a chance to go swimming, play sports, learn ivrit (Hebrew), and go to their chug (elective activities), we have also joined the entire camp community for many special events. On Wednesday, Kallah showed their ruach (spirit) in the all-camp Judaica Bowl, a trivia game of knowledge of Judaism and Hebrew. On Friday, we ate Shabbat dinner and sang at Shabbat shira (song session) with the entire camp. Finally, on Saturday night we celebrated the United States of America’s independence at the Star Spangled Mesibah, an all camp talent show put on by Tiferet.
The chanichim in Kallah have worked to be a part of the OSRUI kehilah, but they also stick together as Kallah, always supporting their friends who represent Kallah. They never fail to show their energy within the eidah (unit) and amongst the entire camp. I have been so impressed by all of the efforts put forth by Kallah chanichim to become part of the kehilah in their tzrifim, in our eidah, and in all of OSRUI. am looking forward to the next week with this wonderful kehilah!
