SHABBAT PINCHAS 2015
It has been a week full of activities from one end of camp to the other and beyond!
Yesterday, our Chalutzim campers presented a wonderful service for the whole camp as part of Yom Yisrael (Israel Day) which was produced by our Israeli shlichim (staff). Campers learned about lots of parts of Israel during the afternoon, baking pita, visiting a shuk (market), putting notes in the Western Wall and listening to WOSR – the “local” Israeli radio station. Chalutzim campers also led evening programs for each of the camp units and the kids had a fabulous time.
Of course, Chalutzim campers are anxiously awaiting their parents visiting on Sunday for Yom Horim (Parents’ Day). It will be our pleasure to welcome you to camp.
Moshavah was out for another three-day trip at the beginning of the week biking, climbing, canoeing and hiking only, to return to camp and learn more about connecting Judaism to the earth. They have been planting seeds for vegetables and flowers which the next session will benefit from directly.
Tiferet spent a great day in the park using their surroundings to explore their art through nature … and, of course, grilling hot dogs and more. Building art in the park has become a really great tradition in Tiferet. Today, the campers are showcasing the fruit of their work this session to the rest of the camp in their culminating performances. The art instructors continue to marvel at the kind of talent shown by this year’s campers.
The highlight of the week in Kibbutz HaTzofim was a trip to a real working dairy farm. Campers got to milk a cow and play with the baby calves, learned about the process of growing corn, and adopted 3 baby chicks. Most importantly, they got a deeper knowledge and understanding of teva (nature).
Kallah had Yom Country Club with the campers and staff dressing as if they were ready for a day of golf. They joined with Tzofim the other night for a big Dance Party, with Billy Jonas entertaining and lots of music all around. And of course they have enjoyed all the fun activities that OSRUI has to offer. But most importantly, they have grown as a kehillah (community) these past two weeks, both within their tzrifim (cabins) and as an eidah (unit).
It has been a great session here at OSRUI and we will miss our campers who are heading back home. Thank you for sharing your children with us for these few weeks!
Shabbat Shalom from all of us at OSRUI!
