By Lizzy Scheinkopf, Rosh Eidah of Moshavah
Mosh Bet 2015 is off to a fantastic start! We have already begun to enjoy all of the great activities that camp has to offer. In addition to participating in all of our daily activities like sports, swimming, chugim (electives), and Ivrit (Hebrew), each day we are having thoughtful and meaningful discussions during limudim (Jewish learning). Our limud theme this session is leadership and what it means to be a leader. The chanichim (campers) also spent some time during limud this week to meet with their va’adot (committees) to brainstorm ideas for t’filot (services). Each va’ad will have the opportunity to lead t’filot during the session and the chanichim have begun thinking of ways to make our t’filot experiences more engaging and unique. And speaking of t’filot and leadership, two of our chanichim (Hannah S. and Ethan S.) volunteered to songlead for the eidah (unit) during t’filot—inspiring their friends to be leaders in the eidah as well!
Meanwhile, the thing that is on everyone’s mind is tiyulim (trips)! We are very excited to leave on our first tiyul next week, where we will challenge ourselves and be one with teva (nature). The chanichim (campers) had a chance to participate in tiyul orientation, which included learning how to set up tents and how to properly pack hiking packs and biking panniers. On Sunday, we will all head down to the lake for canoe orientation with the waterfront staff.
It’s been quite a busy week here since we arrived but now we have a chance to slow down and reflect on the past week and the week ahead. We can’t wait to celebrate Shabbat tonight with the rest of camp and we are looking forward to more fun in the sun!
