We are thrilled to announce that Albert Marks will be joining our full-time staff as Senior Assistant Director, OSRUI and Youth Engagement.

Albert will work with Jerry and Susan in all areas of running the camp, including staff recruitment, camper recruitment, coordinating our ambassador program in congregations, and programming. In addition, he’ll be working with the NFTY Northern Region, promoting OSRUI and NFTY in area congregations. This summer, Albert will also head our Machon counselor-in-training program.

A native of Nashville, Albert attended Indiana University where he earned a B.S. in Biology and then went on to get his Master’s Degree in Education from National Louis University. At IU, he met OSRUI alum Rachel Kaplan who brought him to camp with her, where he spent 4 summers – two as assistant sports director, one as rosh eidah of Kallah, and once as science specialist.

Albert spent a year in Israel teaching science for the NFTY-EIE program and then served as Head of Math and Science at the Weizmann Day School in Los Angeles. Along the way he and Rachel married and she became Rabbi Rachel Kaplan Marks. They currently live in Milwaukee where she serves as the assistant rabbi at Congregation Shalom. We are fortunate that she will also be with us this summer, serving on faculty.

Albert will join the staff mid-January and will office both in Deerfield and Oconomowoc.
