As we prepare for Summer 2016 at OSRUI, I feel like my excitement can only be expressed through a song I wrote called “Summertime at OSRUI!” to the tune of the 1958 hit “Summertime, Summertime” by the Jamies.

There is joyous song

And lots of cheer

Plans are being tweaked

And it is clear  – it’s Summertiiime!

Plants in the greenhouse

Are – growing strong,

They will be in the garden

Be-fore too long

Staff is preparing

To -till and toil

Because it’s Summertiiime!

There are veggies, flowers

And lots of fruit

To beautify and nourish

Union Institute,

Menus are ready

and cooks in gear

June 20th is nearly here.

Staff will be here soon

To learn the ropes,

A safe, great time,

Is in their hopes,

Campers gearing up

For amazing fun,

It’s Summertiiime!

It’s hard to even wait,

Just – one more day,

When campers arrive

Our joy begins,
