On this Shabbat, for the first time this summer, we will celebrate Shabbat together as a staff, not a complete staff, but as staff.  This Shabbat, the director team, the Rashei Eidot (unit heads), the madrichim (staff) from Mosh, Tzofim, and Chalutzim, the international staff, and moomchim (specialists) will join together in prayer, song, and rest as we welcome Shabbat to Oconomowoc.  Next Shabbat, we will have a complete staff as our Machonikim, Avodahniks, Gesher, Tiferet, and Kallah staff join us on Monday for Shavuah Hachanah (staff week)!

This evening we will join together for our first Shabbat Shira of 2016, yet this Shabbat, we have the chance to look back, better, HEAR back to another Shabbat Shira, Shabbat Shira from 32 years ago, in the summer of 1984.

About a year and a half ago, board member Roy Splansky brought Cantor Ross Wolman a tape from Shabbat Shira at OSRUI in 1984. The story is a right-place-right-time situation where Roy had a boombox in Port Hall at the end of the summer and he hit record.

In any case, Cantor Wolman digitized the tape and you can CLICK HERE to hear it.  Listen to the songs, the claps, Jerry’s story, and all the magic that is Shabbat Shira at Olin-Sang-Ruby-Union Institute.
