I love the Kallah Tzevet (Staff)!

The past few days of Shavuah Hachanah (staff week) have been incredible! On Monday, the entire Kallah tzevet (staff) met for the first time and it felt like a reunion of old friends. Although some of us just met for the first time, we are all extremely passionate and excited about Kallah, our chanichim (campers), OSRUI, and Judaism.

We started our first tzevet asefah (meeting) with a fun game of Where the Wind Blows, which is a great icebreaker that combines aspects of musical chairs with an opportunity to discover interesting facts about the people you are playing the game with. This great, but simple, program is an example of some of the wonderful and creative games that we will play with our chanichim so that they can realize how much they have in common with their peers and even their madrichim (counselors).

I am so excited to experience the rest of this week and learn from my fellow madrichim. I am most looking forward to leading t’filiot (services) with the Kallah tzevet for the entire OSRUI tzevet on Thursday night. We will give everyone a taste of how inclusive Kallah t’filliot are for everyone in the community.

The only thing that would make this week even better is if the chanichim came now! Until then, I will just have to settle knowing that Face Paint Friday is just one day away!

Love,

Naomi

P.S. If you want to practice the Face Paint Friday song before you come to camp, here are the lyrics! It is sung to the tune of Hava Nagila.  Check out the video of me and former Kallah rosh and OSRUI guru, Daniel Shore, teaching it to a recent guest:

Face Paint on Fridays,
Face Paint on Fridays,
Face Paint on Fridays, only in Kallah!
