by Maayan Sharon, our Rosh Mislachat (head Israeli)
Israeli day was a little bit different this summer. We wanted each camper to hear an Israeli story that they can relate to, a story that shows the face of Israel.
Each Eidah (unit) learned about an Israeli and their story who did something amazing in their life, a story that shows that achieving dreams is possible, and the most important stories are those that have a message.
Each Eidah got 4 Shlichim that presented the stories to the Chanichim in different ways: a skit, a song, a video or even just telling the story. After that, the Chanichim got to exprience the story and the message of the story by different activities.
The Chanichim and Madrichim worked together on a way to present the story to the rest of the Machane (camp) in many different ways: a panel, a sign language song, a skit and even a rap song. After every presention in front of the Machane, the Chanichim got a surprise! Each Israeli from the story they learned about sent them a short message on video! The message was only for OSRUI campers and it was very exciting. The Mishlahat closed Yom Israel with a dance that combined Israeli culture from all over the years – Hora dance, Eurovision song, a “Mizrahi” song and more.
Every Chanich got a brochure with the capture “Israeli story is me” and in it they can find a description about every story, and how to find more infornation on the internet when they get back home.
As the Rosh Mishlahat this summer, I felt very proud to show those stories to the campers, stories that shows real people from Israel who has a message to share, and anyone, everywhere can relate to it. I felt very proud to see the Shlichim leading the program in the different Eidot, and together as a community we had an AMAZING Yom Israel!!!
ישר כח!!
