Kol HaKavod to OSRUI teens Syd Bakal, Joey Greenebaum, Emma Milner-Gorvine, and Abby Tzinberg, who were selected as one of the inaugural 18 Under 18 Honorees by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago – Teens@JUF, The Jewish Teen Alliance of Chicago (JTAC) and Springboard.

The honorees embody one or more of these leadership characteristics: they work toward inclusion of Jewish teens of all abilities; prioritize raising money for tzedakah/charity and volunteering; teach their peers and love Jewish learning; motivate others to be involved in Jewish life; or stand out as a Jewish role model. After going through a rigorous and competitive nomination and application process, honorees were selected from among dozens of applicants by a committee of teens and professionals. More information on the application process can be found at www.juf.org/jtac.

Syd was an OSRUI camper for 7 summers, the last one in Chalutzim. Abby spent 4 summers at OSRUI, the last two in Tiferet. Emma joined us for 4 summers and Joey for 3, their last one in Mosh Bet.  Syd, Abby and Emma are active members of NFTY/Chicago as well.

The teens will be honored at the 18 Under 18 Community Celebration on April 25th at 7:00 p.m. at the Starlight Theater in the Wilmette Community Center. Tickets can be purchased at https://juf.org/18-Under-18. Youth professionals can email Brittany BrittanyAbramowicz@juf.org to receive a complementary ticket.
