Camp has officially been in session for 6 days already and Kibbutz HaTzofim is in full swing.  Each day is packed to the brim with activities like swimming, sports, Hebrew, and even evening programs like minute to win it.  We have all been having so much fun the past week doing these things, but if you aren’t living in southeastern Wisconsin, or haven’t heard, there has been a lot of rain.  Given that a lot of our programming tends to be outside, you might assume that the rain has gotten in the way of our fun.  This is not the case! Here at camp, we like to look to find the best out of every situation that occurs.  Instead of focusing on what we can’t do because of the rain, we look to what we are able to do!  I decided to ask some campers what they thought about the rain and what they were able to do because of it, and here are just a few responses.

“It was great for the Gan!”

“We were able to play extra games that we wouldn’t have done without the rain”

“We had more time to meet the people in our tents and get to know them better”

“The pitter patter of the rain is one of my favorite sounds at camp!”

“We danced in the rain as we were walking back to our tents”

“We learned how to organize our clothes so they wouldn’t be on the floor”

Living in Tzofim, our playground is outdoors, our eating area is outdoors, and our beit tifillah is outdoors.  We like to be outside as much as possible and bring nature into everything that we do.  The rain has given us a great opportunity to embrace nature and what it can do for both our physical environment and the connections and memories we form at camp.  Kibbutz HaTzofim is ready to embrace the rain and use it to make the next week at camp their best yet!

See ya soon!
