As part of the July 30th concert honoring Jerry and Paula, a video was created that included interviews with Jerry and Paula, their daughters Michelle Silverman and Rabbi Leora Kaye, and a few of the many whose lives they touched during their 48 years at OSRUI.

The concert featured Rick Recht along with the first ever (and only) performance of the Ben Yachid Band.  The Ben Yachid story is one of Jerry’s favorites, told every year during staff week.  Many of the members of the band heard that story during their time on staff.  Our profound thanks to the musicians for sharing their talents with us that night.  If you don’t know the Ben Yachid story … just watch the video!

The band was joined by former and current songleaders, including (back row, l to r) Jeremy Seaver, Seth Erlich, Rafi Ellenson, and Rabbi Michael Weinberg, who also served as an MC for the evening.

Jerry and Paula were also serenaded by the Roshei Eidot (unit heads), who sang an original song, written by Tiferet Rosh Eidah Evan Richter. Pictured here (l to r) are Ella Steiner, Sara Splansky, Dylan Singer, Becky Dolinko, Micah Brandhandler, Evan Richter, and Lily Booker.

The evening was produced and directed by OSRUI Board of Governors member Michael Lorge.

The next Commemorate 48 event is a study weekend at OSRUI, featuring Rabbi Leora Kaye, Rabbi David Saperstein, Rabbi Daniel Shapiro, and Dr. Gary P. Zola.  See our website for more details.
