by Raya Seidman, Tzofim Rosh Eidah (Unit Head)

The first few days of Tzofim Bet have been jam packed with meeting new friends, awesome activities, and getting settled into our ohelim (tents) for the session. We experienced an amazing day at camp, we played sports, went swimming, and got to try out our chugim (electives) like art, cooking, and teva (nature)!

We also had a special activity – erev ohel (tent night)! During erev ohel, every ohel has their own special evening program planned by the madrichim (counselors) separately. Some ohelim had a campfire, tie-dyed t-shirts, had an archery night, made dream catchers, and more! Erev ohel is a great way to have fun and create a lasting bond with the entire ohel. After all of the amazing activities of the day, the fun continued as the whole camp gathered together to celebrate the 4th of July (on the 3rd of July)! We sang folk songs together at the Bitan (pavillion) and then finished the night with an amazing firework show over Bayit Hill next to the lake! After a long and exciting first full day in Tzofim, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the session has in store!

Raya Seidman is in her 13th summer at camp, and is beyond excited to be serving as Tzofim Rosh Eidah! In May, she graduated from Indiana University, where she studied Youth Development and Jewish Studies.
