It’s only day 2, but we’re already having so much fun together in Kallah Bet! One of my favorite parts of the Kallah community is that thought we’re surrounded by excitement and fun every day, sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference. Just this morning, had french toast sticks for breakfast, and the whole eidah (unit) could barely contain their excitement – we even sang an impromptu song about it!

We’re already enjoying the beautiful weather here today by swimming at the pool and the lake, and starting our limud (study) theme of teva (nature). During our session today, Solly came to join us, and led us in teva trivia! Did you know that Oconomowoc is the Potawatomi word for “waterfall”?! We can’t wait to keep learning about the teva that surrounds us here at camp!

Of course, we have so much to look forward to over the next two weeks! Everyone is excited to try archery, Etgar (our climbing tower), and tubing, and the chanichim (campers) are already practicing for auditions for Mesibah (our all-camp talent show organized by Tiferet)! We’re also getting excited for fireworks tonight (an OSRUI tradition for the 3rd of July) and our first Shabbat with all of camp on Friday! All of these fun events are opportunities for us to celebrate the community we create in Kallah Bet – and we can’t wait!

Sara Splansky, our Kallah Rosh Eidah, is celebrating her 15th summer at OSRUI, and her 6th on staff. When not at camp, she works as a full-time nanny, and in her spare time, she loves to travel to new places, find the greatest restaurants, and read books.
