Every once in a while, we like to give a shout out to the people who make up our camp community. Without all of you, OSRUI would not be the magical place we all know it to be! We are excited to share Naomi’s (OSRUI Camper) relationship with OSRUI and why it’s her home away from home.

Every once in a while, we like to give a shout out to the people who make up our camp community. Without all of you, OSRUI would not be the magical place we all know it to be! We are excited to share Naomi (OSRUI Camper) relationship with OSRUI and why it’s her home away from home.

QUESTION: Tell us about yourself!

NAOMI: My name is Naomi. I’m a freshman at Stevenson High School. In my free time I’m on Stevenson color guard and I’m also a member of the Refined Dance Company with In Motion Dance. In addition, I volunteer at Or Shalom assisting at their Sunday school. When I’m not at OSRUI, I also volunteer at Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County, a camp for kids with special needs.

QUESTION: How long have you been coming to camp and what units have you been in?

NAOMI: I’ve been going to OSRUI for 3 summers and I have been in Tzofim, Gesher, and Moshavah. Camp is my second home and is very special to me.

QUESTION: Who were your counselors?

NAOMI: One of my counselors was Maya, a memorable counselor because she was a song leader and had an amazing voice. She inspired me to want to be a song leader when I’m older. She was always there to help me with anything I needed, to talk and make every moment at camp special. Another one of my counselors was Allison, she had a fun personality to be around, and told the best stories. She was also there whenever I needed and helped make our cabin bond and grow closer as friends.

QUESTION: Why is camp a special place for you?

NAOMI: Camp is such a special place for me because I have made so many memories and friends that will last forever. I have made such a special connection between everyone in my tents and cabins during my time at OSRUI. I feel like I have really grown up and changed through and because of camp. Everything about camp feels like home and I look forward to coming back every year.

QUESTION: Where is your favorite place at camp?

NAOMI: My favorite place at camp is the lake because the lake is always so peaceful and pretty to look at the lake; from OSRUI’s beach you can see all the places surrounding Lac La Belle. The lake is also where we go tubing and pontooning every summer. I have the most fun memories of tubing and pontooning with my friends.

Thank you to Naomi for sharing your OSRUI experience!
