IMG_6857We have had an amazing week here in Tiferet!  It’s had to belive that it’s already Wednesday and that in two short days the chanichim (campers) will be welcoming their second shabbat and beginning an exciting third week at camp!

On Monday, we went on a surprise tiyul (trip) to the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Lynden Sculpture Garden. The museum is currently under construction, however there is a spectacular special exhibit called “From Van Gogh to Polluck: Modern Rebels.” The chanichim got a tour with our Visual Art specialists, Ohad and Hannah. After our tours, we had studio in the museum followed by a little free time and a picnic lunch. Each studio was able to experience the exhibit through the lens of their own artistic medium and connect to the art in different ways.

After our picnic lunch at the Milwaukee Art Museum we went to the Lynden Sculpture Garden where the five artistic studios explored the sculptures from perspective of their art. Whether it was art exploring negative space, digital arts looking at sculptures through the lens of their camera, dance mirroring shapes with their bodies, music composing from still sculpture, or drama experiencing architectural viewpoints, each studio and chanich was engaged. Then, just when the chanichim thought they were headed back to camp, we stopped at the Oconomowoc Band Shell for some relaxation and tasty gelato! We had a truly fantastic field trip!

This has been a wonderful first two weeks in Tiferet. All of the chanichim are showing their passion and talent for their art more and more every day. I can’t wait for the final two weeks of Tiferet Bet!
