It is 7 AM Friday morning and I just walked into the sports center to begin setting up for our annual staff blood drive. Following me were 6 very enthusiastic Avodahniks eager to help in any way they could. Today we have over 55 staff members signed up and ready to do the mitzvah of giving blood.
Last night we enjoyed my favorite event of staff week – Oconomostaff!!! This is a wonderful talent show that is run by our rashei eidot (unit heads). Well – the talent was amazing! We had everything from an a’capella trio to a tap dance routine to really funny and well prepared skits. The entertainers and the audience all had a great time!
Our Israeli staff arrived late last week and each one of them is fabulous. They bring with them such knowledge, beauty and talent. They are the wonderful face of Israel and each one is so excited for the campers to arrive.
This past week has not been an easy one for staff. They are presented with a lot of rules, regulations and information on how to best serve your children. I want to share with you some of what they do during this week:
- Safety training
- CPR and AED training
- Back pocket games
- Special needs
- Swim testing
- Hebrew
- Office procedures
- Health Center procedures
- Machon(CIT training)
- Songleading training (for our songleaders)
- WFA training for Moshavah staff
- Tower certification
- Prayer
- Learning about and participating in our new environmental program….and so much more!
I love writing about the OSRUI staff because they are such amazing young men and women. They are here working so diligently –not for the money, believe me – but because they are committed to making this summer an amazing and safe one for all of our campers.
The entire staff is about to celebrate our first Shabbat together. We really can’t wait until next week when we are celebrating with over 700!
Feel confident when you send your children to us on Monday – they will be in very good and loving hands.
Shabbat Shalom,
Susan
